I read with near disgust this article in The New York Times entitled "Given A Shovel, Americans Dig Deeper Into Debt".   The object of the story, or as the NYT paints her, the victim of the evil credit card companies, is a 47 year old woman who just lost her house to foreclosure.  The story goes into great detail how she got into the situation that led her into this situation.  Of course nearly all it was her own fault, and could have been avoided.
